Bare Naked Divas Campaign!

Hello Everyone! Happy Wednesday!!!

First of all let me say thank you to all of you who showed me love via the Diva Spotlight on . DivaInDeepThought. I appreciate it and really thank you all. It meant alot.

While reading that blog I realized something. Queen Diva and I have been BFF's since 2000, and she has only ONCE seen me with out ANY makeup on! < gasp> and she still has her eyesight lol That in itself is amazing! However, that made me think. I never go anywhere with out atleast mascera on.

Having said that, I am a firm believer of " be comfortable in the skin you are in". That means you need to be comfortable with you in EVERY way. Even with out Makeup.

So I googled and I found that this seems to be an up and coming trend. While I am in no way ready to turn in my makeup bag for an Au Natural look. I do think that we need to be happy with ourselves with out all of our "enhancements". And some Stars have been brave enough to have themselves photographed with out makeup and witout being Photoshopped. BRAVERY at its finest ladies!!! SO here is what I propose. I am going to host a Bare Naked Diva's Spotlight! I will go first so that you can see what I mean. But I would LOVE it if you all would send me a picutre of yourself Au Natural. No makeup, No no mascera no nothing! just you and your gorgous faces!! :) ( Don't worry you dont have to be naked, just your face :) )

You can email me your pics, please include your name, and something wonderful about yourself :) I know that its scarry, but we are all truly BEAUTIFUL DIVAS! and even tho we adore our little ( or not so little in some cases) Make up bags, We are gorgous with out it.

I also encourage you to follow Queen Diva @DivaInDeepThought and sign up for a place in the Diva Spotlight. All you will need to do is, email Queen Diva and be sure to include a few pics of you with your " look" In DETAIL, include what products you use, and how you apply it for your " look".

I am hoping you will join me in this, and be comfortable in the skin you are in. for you are all truly beautiful inside and out :)

Here are some pics of celebs with out their makeup on :)

Going Plumb Crazy!!!/ End of the Rainy Day April Savings Challenge

Happy Weekend Everyone!!!!

I don't know about you but Whew! April was TOUGH! With the pollen being out of control and the weather not making up its mind I am sure ready for MAY!!!

So, How did everyone do with the Rainy Day April Shower's Challenge? I know it was really tough for me.  I had my son's 12th birthday this month and mine & hubby's 8 year anniversary. Kinda hard when you arent supposed to be spending money lol

I am going to go cash in my spare change bucket today. My reward to myself ... CABLE AND HIGH SPEED INTERNET!!! ( and the peasent's rejoice!!! )

As an effort to cut back on our monthly bills we gave that up almost 2 years ago. AND boy has it been missed! Wireless isnt all its cracked up to be when you are in a dead zone!

So, Since I was such a good girl I treated myself to some new highlights in my effort to go back to my Blonde self and we are reinstalling cable and interenet to the house!

Let me know how you did :)

Ok so as I said before I went back to being a blonde. My reasoning for this is as such: I am 34 years old and I am almost 85% gray. I know its sooooo sad! But its genetic thanks to my sperm donor( my bio dad, I couldnt get the tall skinny genes right ?  GRRR ) OK so Its easier for me to be blonde because it blends in with the gray alot better because they when colored or highlighted become lighter blonde. which is a win- win for me. So here are some pics !

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Butterflies, Ladybugs and Blossoms Oh My !

Hello Everyone!!!

I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend! It was so gorgeous out this weekened that I was feeling a bit inspired today. I was taking down all my easter decorations. And realized that I had NOTHING to put on my front door. As it is bright white it can tend to look really drab so I usually hang a wreath or someting on it. But since its not a holiday anytime soon I really didn't have anything. SO, < enter lightbulb ding here> I decided that I would get one while out running errands.

I went to Walmart first. They ofcourse had nothing, as they have taken out their craft department. And no longer had any kind of spring decorations unless they were garden statues. So, I then trolloped over to our local Roses. Its kinda like a cheapy department store that is not really a Family Dollar but not a Dollar Tree either.

Well upon entering there, I was completely lost. They had changed everything around. So I finally found their floral/ decorations department and they had the ugliest pathetic wreath in there. It, I swear had 4 flowers on it. And it was $20.00 Seriously!?

SO, feeling discouraged I headed into Hallmark to check on some Yankee Candles and see if they had anyhting. Yea they did, however $39.50 for a 7" green wreath was not in my budget. Especially since I am on a No Spending Challenge this month. Feeling sad now that I have nothing for my door. I realize that I have a gift card for $10.00 for the Dollar Tree that I won. YIPPEE!!!!! Here I go! I will just Make My Own!!! Why didn't I think of this before!

With my new mission ahead of me. I set off to the Dollar Tree.  I was not disappointed. I immediately found a  10inch Wicker Wreath $1.oo YAY! Then I saw these adorable flower bunches with Little Butterflies in them! OMG TOO CUTE!!! MUST HAVES!!! I grabbed 4 bunches! Grabbed some daisies and some greenery and was on my way! Grand total $7.00

Feeling inspired. I get home and start making my new front door decoration. Upon finishing it. I realized it was missing something... But what ?? Then I saw that I had some left over Ladybugs from another project and I thought CUTENESS!!!! So I glued one on.

But something was still amiss... MORE LADYBUGS!!! :) So here is my finished project. All I did really was but the blooms off the big stems and add a little school glue and just stick them around and add the butterflies in and glue the ladybugs to the leaves. Let me know what you think! :)

Have a great Day!!

Step Out: A Walk To Help Find A Cure For Diabetes

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Last May I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. It has been a struggle learning how to live with this disease. Especially since I am completely Pepsi addicted! That was the hardest thing to get used to. Alot of people really don't understand alot about the disesase. And there really is alot of misconception about the types of diabetes there are and how you know if you have it or not.

So, today, I got an email from the American Diabetes Association (ADA). They are going to be having an event called Step Out: A Walk To Help Find A Cure For Diabetes. I immediately jumped on this bandwagon! They are having the walk around me in Ocean City, MD on November 6, 2010.

So, since I live with this disease ,I thought that it would be an excellent idea to organize a team to walk.

I usually am not one to preach to people about their choices in life. But, since my diagnosis I have definately seen the light in takeing care of yourself. I am not perfect by any means. I started out ready to take this disease head on. Then in June, 2009 I lost my Dad. I went into a huge depression which I still struggle with and I just let everything go. I stopped the diet, stopped my meds and went on a total bender for the last 9 months.

I have seen and felt myself go down rapidly, and have decided that its time to straighten my act up and get back in the wagon and regain contol of my life. I know that this is a little heavy for the blogs that I have been posting but, I wanted you all to know that I would really appreciate the support in this cause.

I have started back on all my meds ( yay me!) Completely given up my beloved Pepsi < sob, boo hooo hoo> But seeing my kids grow and have a fruitful life is more important than my Pepsi fix lol I would also suggest that if you havn't already and you have diabetes in your family that you get tested. It is completely worth it. Its better to know than to not. =o)

So, Here is where I am now. I am stuck, I need a name for my team. I have been at this all day and can't think of anything that does'nt sound like a kindergarden soccer team lol.  I have come up with Voodoo Dolls, and Diabetic Divas. But, as I have some guys on my team they may not feel so good about that lmao.

Any suggestions?

Ok so I am a girl on a mission. I have set my fundraising goal at $2500.00 I know thats high but hey I think i can do it!  I will post more info as I get it. There wasn't much more than the date in what they sent me. I will have a link as well to donate online. But I have got to get a name first! lol

Have a great day!

Online Window Shopping!

Happy Monday Everyone!

Today has been kinda all over the place. I have been doing laundry for... EVER and decided that I would take a break and check mail. Upon which time I got an email from my BFF Queen Diva Yoli. She knows that we are on a spending freeze for the month of April, yet because she loves me in some sick twisted way she torments me with an Email Wish List from Torrid. < UGH THE PAIN!!> So, like a good friend I look. Oh the cuteness she has found. AND ON SALE!!! < Hurry someone hide my wallet> So, since I have read this email I now feel the need to go and do some Online Window Shopping ( OWS).

So like Columbus I set out in search of new worlds in Big Girl Fashion. Because, < enter soap box here> I have long felt that society thinks that just because we are women AND men of size that we need to look like we came off a retirement farm in Florida where Omar the Tent Maker has so disgustingly draped us in whatever large piece of unflattering fabric he has laying around. WE WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS! ( raises fist in the air !) WE are BEAUTIFUL People and We should not have to be Trendy outcasts for the lack luster options that we are given by people who think that they are doing us a favor by putting that crap on racks for us to choose from when there is nothing else. ok, I'm done ( for the moment) < remove soap box here >

SO, Oh Happy Day! I found some wonderful sites for you all to check out. I so cannot WAIT til April is over! cause CHA CHING!!!! It's gonna be ON LIKE DONKEY KONG!! ( in moderation of course) but the first item up for my reward to myself is going to be this lovely number from SWAKDesigns.com :

OMG sooo cute!! and it comes in a 6X!!!!!! How awesome is that ! They had so much stuff I was ohhing and aahhhing all day! And Clearance ! Glorious Clearance! Check it out !

Next was PlusSizeFix.com. They have Trendy " club" clothes for the Big Girl. Super Sexy! Makes ya wanna get all dolled up and go dancing! Oh and BONUS! Free Shipping on orders over $75!!!  Check them out too!

And last but not least The Adorable Outfits at Alight.com: They even have a boutique in long Island. So if you are ever up that way you can check them out !

Well Happy OWS! Let me know if you order anything and send me pics of you in our finds and I will post them on the blog !

Hey Everyone!

Sorry that I havn't been posting much. It's been a crazy weekend! I hope that you all have had a wonderful Easter! I know that we did. Between all of the egg hunts, coloring eggs, a easter party and Easter Dinner with the family. It's been well .... INSAINE!! lol.

I hope that if you all are participating in the April Rainy Day Challenge that you are doing well. We are day 4 into the challenge and so far I hav'nt bought one single thing. But, I am starting to feel the burn in my wallet. I am hoping that I will be able to just enjoy the week with my kids since they are off school and I will be cleaning out my closet. That is gonna be a week long chore in itself! Who knows what treasures I might find !

Have a great week Everyon!!!

Happy April! OMG!

Happy April Everyone!

So My BFF Diva Yoli over at DivaInDeepThought decided that for the month of April she would challenge her followers to not spend anything unnecessary. So, no Spring Shopping Spree's. I thought this would be an excellent idea since well I have been going a little crazy with the spending here lately.

So, If you are interested, come join us. The rules are pretty simple. I am also issuing a side challenge for everyone to save all their change for the month of April. Every time you break a bill the change goes in a bucket. On April 30, count it up and let me know how much you save. It might be enough to get you something super cute !

Good Luck and let me know if you are gonna try it with us ! :)

Here are the rules again:
1.No unnecessary purchases... PERIOD.

2.No clothes, shoes, or makeup for myself (however can accept gifts from others).

3.No clothes or shoes for kids or Miguel unless it’s a necessity (i.e. – the only pair of shoes don't fit or are lost and a new pair is needed.). Not having clean clothes to wear is not an acceptable excuse to purchase new – laundry must be done.

4.Only clothes that explicitly state “Dry Clean Only” on the care tag should be taken to the dry cleaner. All other clothing should be done in regular washing machines.

5.Sales are not an acceptable reasons to buy, if I miss a sale... oh well. 6.Cannot go to any retailer alone – need a chaperone.

7.Nail fill (no designs), and one pedicure. (or limit your manicures)

8.Limit eating out with the family as much as possible.

Sounds pretty simple right? Oh and on May1st you are absolutely not allowed to have a Store-Gasm and spend all the money you have saved lol!

Happy Passover!!!

I guess I should explain something about me.Ok so here's the short version.  I am mostly Irish, however my Grandfather was jewish and I was raised that way most of my life. But, I come from a well rounded family and we celebrated everything. Passover/ Easter, Chanukkah/ Christmas it wasd really awesome and helped me to learn to accept everyone's beliefs and to respect people for what they believe and to learn about it before we made judgements about them for not being " normal".

So, since today is Passover, I thought that I would take the time to wish everyone a Happy Passover.

It was one of my favorite of all of the Jewish Holidays. I loved spending time with my Poppy and helping my Granny prepair the Seder. I, being the youngest had the job of asking the 4 questions during the Seder and was always a little nervous because It was my " special job" .

But, I am a little sad today because since I lost my Poppy in March, 2007 we have not had a Seder. It has been too hard for my Granny and isn't the same since hes gone. So, Today I am remembering all the wonderful memories of Passover's past.

I hope that no matter what you celebrate that you have a wonderful time and you make special memories with your families. Trust me when I say that they will be a comfort to you in the future.

Thanks for stopping by and letting me be a little sentamental today.

Shalom & L’chaim My Friends!
( means Peace and good health) <3 Kissy, Kissy<3

The " OMG! Save For A Rainy Day April Challenge!!"

** Sings** April Showers Bring May Flowers** As we all know April is supposed to be the rainiest month of the year. So My BFF Diva Yoli at DivaInDeepThought had a wonderful idea. We are going to have a Save for a Rainy Day April Challenge. We could all use to save some money in this dreadful economy. And I for one know that once the weather gets warm I want all new pretty things to shake the Winter Blues.

The rules are simple, all we have to do is follow them right ?? Lol Oh come on We can do this after all its only 30 measly days, Right < cringe>

OK, so here are the rules :

1.No unnecessary purchases... PERIOD!

2.No clothes, shoes, or makeup for myself (however can accept gifts from others).

3.No clothes or shoes for kids or Hubby unless it’s a necessity (i.e.

5.Sales are not an acceptable reasons to buy, if I miss a sale... oh well.< gasp!>

6.Cannot go to any retailer alone – needs a chaperone.

7.Nail fill( or manicure) (no designs), and one pedicure.

8.Limit eating out with the family as much as possible.

Sounds pretty simple right? Oh and on May1st you are absolutely not allowed to have a Store-Gasm and spend all the money you have saved lol!

I am also issuing a side challenge...

Pick a bank, bucket or cup for the month of April put all the change that you accumulate into this cup. At the end of the month count it up. You would be suprised how much change you get everytime you break a dollar!!

Spring Has Sprung!!!! Weekend Rewind

HOORAAAYYY!!! It's finally here! Spring! No more snow! YAY! YAY! YAY!! I live on the East Coast and well since you all know of all the snow that we got this winter you can see why I am so excited that its gone for a while!

I decided that since I am really new to blogging I would do a Weekend Rewind. This weekend was a little different for me. My hubby and his BFF decided that they were going to go on their Yearly Road Trip. So, that meant that I was going to be stuck here in Slower Lower Delaware while he was having a good time. Well, Its really not alll that bad but it started out that way.

I spent most of my night thursday helping him pack. ( he is a man and will forget his head if I don't say so lol) So, we didn't finally get to bed til after 2 am and had to get up at 4:30 so, no sleep for me.

After finally saying Hasta La Bye-Bye to the love of my life, it was time to get the kids up and ready for the bus and off to school. Having done that I looked at my clock and it was only 8:05am. I decided that I sshould attempt to take a nap cause I had'nt slept and well it would be good idea so I did'nt get cranky and kill someone. No such luck. So, after 2 hrs of everyone and their grandma calling me I decided that I was going to go shopping. Hubby is away, kids in school no one to bug me saying I'm taking too long good idea right? Well HELL YEAH GOOD IDEA!

SO, even tho it was pouring buckets I decided to make the trek in hubby's truck. ( side note, Its a POS he's got my new truck on the trip and I have the one that does'nt like reverse) SO, off I go. My first stop was Cato Fashions. They were having a sale. I never go in this store because I am a 30/32 and they only go up to a 26/28 and those are cut really small.

But, I was feeling good and decided maybe I would just find some cute accessories. After checking thru the sale racks I found an adorable light weight yellow sweater. It was a 26/28 but it was kinda long and stretchy and only $11.00 so I thought I would give it a try. AND IT FIT!!! YAAAYYY! Bad day just got better!

I didn't find much else. I would have been broke If I had been a 14/16 but alas, I am not so I headed to the accessories. JACK POT!!! It was accessories galore in there. And most on clearance. Since I was purchasing the yellow sweater I really wanted to find something that would POP off that color. Unable to decide on about 6 choices in my hand. I looked around for a second opinion and couldn't find anyone. I called my BFF Diva Yoli from Diva Deep in Thought I asked her what to go with yellow. She suggested Blue which was my color of choice. So having confrimed I set off to check out.

Bag in hand I headed over to Walmart for some more retail theropy. I decided on the way there that Hair Highlights were in order for the weekend! So I went to the beauty section and found what I was looking for. ( side note #2: My hair is extremely thick and costs me a fortune to go to the salon so, with the help of my Diva Momma we have perfected the DIY Hair Coloring Techniqes) with my plan in tact I checked out went to lunch and headed home.

here are some pics of the out come. I was heading out Thrifting with my Momma so thought that I would have a super cute day! So here goes !

Sweater: Cato
Accessories: Cato
Jeans: Avenue ( not pictured)
Makeup: LA Looks Spring colors/ Hard Candy base and Powder/ Colossal Lash Mascera and Black Eyeliner

( this was before Highlights)

Highlights: Loreal Frost and Design: Pecan

Due to technical difficulties I will post a pic of the finished result later.

I hope you all had a great weekend!!!!

Well Here We Go ....

Well Hello Gorgeous!

Since this is my Very First attempt at this I am not 100% sure what I am supposed to do so we will just wing it ! =o)

First let me say thanks for taking a peek! This site is definitely under construction, however let me give you a little peek at what I will be posting. So here's a little bit about the name.

I am a BBW ( for those of you who don't know what that is google it ) who firmly believes that just cause you are a BBW doesn't mean that you have to look like an old sack of potatoes. I believe that Big truly is Beautiful and while I am in NO way saying that I am a model, I do really try to make myself shine! I am also a HUGE ( no pun intended) fan of Miss Piggy and I believe that she IS the Original DIVA! As for the Prose, well I love to read, I love everything about expression thu the written word. So, that's the name.

As for what I am going to be doing here. I am going to be blogging my thoughts on FATshion, beauty, makeup, home life, kids, decorating and sometimes just plain ranting lol But what I can assure you is that it will never be a dull moment. =o) So, that said, Thanks again for taking a peek and I hope that you will come back soon!

>
